Sand blasting, or in a more technical term abrasive blasting, is the method of using stream of pressurized abrasive materials to do one of the following jobs:
To smoothen a rough surface
To roughen a smooth surface
To shape a surface
To clean a hard surface
And/ or to remove any surface contaminants.
It is also used to remove old paint, casting materials, and coatings. Repainting a surface would need to be sand blasted first to even out the surface. Sand blasting is usually done at high speeds which can be dangerous. A highly proficient worker who has mastered the art of sand blasting is preferred to lessen workforce casualties and improve workplace efficiency.
